Landscape of Fragment UNO KAZUYUKI

Caelum Gallery is proud to present a one-person show by the artist UnoKazuyki.
Some artists aim at a cool impersonal, cerebral art, while others convey fiery emotion in their work. Uno wants both in his art.
The artist uses photographic and digital technology to erase any indication of his involvement in the art-making process. The images are of an architectural nature, that is, of environments that were made by someone other than the artist.Others also made the rice paper that they are printed on, and the bright red tape that that he superimposes on them. However, his choice of images and materials and how they interact expose Uno｡ﾇs artistic character which can be described as｡ﾇ complexity in search of order.｡ﾇ The cityscapes, the architectural fantasies, overwhelm the human inhabitants who are too infinitesimal to be seen. The tapes that the artist introduces over the images are like pathways through the city-jungle, and are humanizing elements.
As the show｡ﾇs title suggests, the inhabitants of the landscapes can only experience the environments as fragments, the whole being too vast to comprehend, which, of course, is the situation of man in relation to the cosmos. Uno｡ﾇs works can be seen as allegories of man｡ﾇs alienation within a technological civilization, and his search for wholeness and purpose.
